Broken Teeth

Chipped or broken teeth are among the most common dental emergencies, but the oral health risks they represent are neither routine nor inconsequential. If it happens to you, it is important to seek emergency dental treatment ASAP to preserve the tooth and protect it from further damage.

The treatment for a broken tooth varies according to the nature and extent of the damage, some examples of common scenarios are:

• If one of your front teeth has been chipped, we may be able to smooth out the edge and use composite to replace the missing piece.
• If a large piece of enamel has broken off and you are able to find it, place it in a clean container, cover it with milk, and bring it to your appointment, as your emergency dentist can use the fragment to repair your tooth.
• Molars with a broken chewing surface may be treated with a filling or crown.
• If a broken tooth results in damaged (and later infected) dental pulp, root canal treatment may be necessary
